POPIA Notice

This notice explains your rights under South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA). It's a standard template — have it reviewed by a South African admitted attorney before relying on it commercially, and make sure MzansiLink is registered with the Information Regulator if required for your processing activities.
1. Responsible Party
MzansiLink is the "Responsible Party" under POPIA for the personal information described in our Privacy Policy — meaning we determine why and how your data is processed on this Platform.
2. Lawful basis for processing
We process your personal information because:
- It's necessary to perform our contract with you (providing the social feed, Dating, Comedy, Jobs, Music, and Wallet features you sign up for);
- You've given specific consent (e.g. sharing your GPS location for Dating distance, or signing in via Google/Facebook);
- It's necessary for our legitimate interests in preventing fraud and keeping the Platform secure, balanced against your rights.
3. Special personal information
Under POPIA, information revealing details like religious/philosophical beliefs, race or ethnicity, health, or sex life is "special personal information" requiring extra care. Your Dating profile (relationship goal, bio, photos) may indirectly touch on this — we only use it to operate the Dating feature you opted into, and never share it outside the Platform.
4. Your rights as a data subject
Under POPIA, you have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you.
- Correction — request we fix inaccurate or outdated information (or do it yourself via Settings → Profile).
- Deletion — request we delete or destroy personal information we no longer have lawful reason to retain.
- Object to processing of your information on reasonable grounds, including for direct marketing.
- Withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent (e.g. turning off Dating location sharing).
- Complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa if you believe we've mishandled your information.
5. How to exercise your rights
Contact us via the details provided in-app with your request. We'll respond within a reasonable time as required by POPIA, and may need to verify your identity first to protect your account.
6. Information Regulator (South Africa)
If you're not satisfied with how we've handled your request, you may lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator:

7. Cross-border transfers
If any personal information is processed or stored outside South Africa (for example, by hosting or email infrastructure providers), we take reasonable steps to ensure it remains protected to a standard consistent with POPIA.
8. Data minimisation
We only collect what each feature genuinely needs to function — for example, GPS coordinates are requested only for Dating distance, only with your explicit permission, and are never required to use the rest of the Platform.
